Day 1

Not so much communications blackout as I suspected. We were allowed to keep our phones on us throughout the whole day. No photos allowed though. The bunks here at the artillery training institute is pretty spacious. More room than a normal hospital ward, minus all medical equipment. Logistics was weird though. We ended up early there, at 8, and one of the officers had to entertain us till 9 when the speaker of our opening address would arrive. He gave up at 8.30 since he ran out of stuff to talk about, and was already reduced to making jokes. But luckily they were flexible enough to open up the artillery museum for us to have a short tour. Nothing much throughout the rest of the day except some boring discussions. Food was an issue however. There was too much of it! Not that it's bad, but woah! Branch, lunch, tea, dinner, supper, all were catered buffets! (except supper) And we had leftovers most of the time! Man, if only army was like that! I heard from one of my friends that the next two days were to have 6 meals as well. Wow!

Part of the programme involved a skirmish mission. It turned out to be a planned assault, not on a single building, but a small part of a specially built town for training the Murai training facility. We had to plan the mission after being given the objective as well as execute it on the final day, storming buildings and all. Much better than I had expected. We managed to wrap everything up and returned to the bunks at 12+ Quite slack for a first day.
